Professional Biography:

Prior to coming to the University of Arkansas, Jonathan Butcher spent nearly three years researching education and family policy at The Heritage Foundation, a public policy research institute in Washington, D.C. He authored and co-authored papers on vouchers, charter schools and other forms of school choice. In 2003, he assisted in the production of School Choice 2003: What's Happening in the States, a book published regularly by Heritage on school choice in the United States. After the book's release, he managed Heritage's Choices in Education Web site, their Web portal on education reform. His articles have appeared in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, The Washington Times, FoxNews.com, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Kansas City Star.
