Kim is a Doctoral Academic Fellow and Graduate Assistant for the Office of Education Policy within the Department of Education Reform. Her commitment to conducting research that benefits Arkansas K-12 students, educators, and schools drives her research initiatives. Currently, Kim's research focuses on phone-free schools and chronic absenteeism. She also collaborates with educational partners to implement research-based policy initiatives.
Before joining the doctoral program, Kim was an educator for 12 years in Arkansas public schools. She taught middle school math, coached teachers, and designed curriculum and interventions. As an educator, Kim's top priority was fostering outstanding academic growth for all students. She joined the educational field as a nontraditional teacher through Teach for America, Mississippi Delta Corps, in 2012. Prior to her educational career, Kim was a certified public accountant for PwC.
Kim has a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas, a Master's in Public Accounting from the University of Texas, a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, and a Bachelor's of Business Administration from the University of Texas.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys exploring waterways in Arkansas with her geologist husband and three children, reading lighthearted novels, and drinking too much coffee.
