Dr. Jonathan N. Mills is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas and Non-Resident Research Fellow with the Education Research Alliance for New Orleans. Mills focuses on polices designed to expand educational opportunities for students, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds. His current research examines the effects of school choice programs on student outcomes as well as the benefits and unintended consequences of programs designed to improve college access and retention among disadvantaged student populations.
His work includes several peer-reviewed publications appearing in journals such as Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, the Journal of Education Finance, and Education Economics, and Education and Urban Society. Dr. Mills’s research has been covered in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Atlantic, CNN, U.S. News and World Report, Time Magazine, NPR, The Times- Picayune, and The Advocate.
Mills received his Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Arkansas in 2015. He additionally holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Missouri.
